Expanding U.S. Production of Critical Energetics

Together, the venture will build a modern facility to manufacture IMX-104 for the U.S. Army and expand domestic production of key materials such as RDX, HMX, TNT, and DNAN. This reinforces the U.S. industrial base and reduces reliance on foreign suppliers for essential energetic compounds.

Nitradyn expands the successful collaboration between Paligen and Dyno Nobel, following their 2024 partnership to design and construct the first U.S. TNT plant since the 1980s—located in Graham, Kentucky—for the U.S. Army. This proven track record demonstrates both companies’ ability to deliver critical, large-scale defense manufacturing projects.

Building on Established Success

Strengthening the Workforce and Community

Through partnerships with universities, technical schools, and community colleges, Nitradyn supports workforce development programs that prepare the next generation of experts in energetics production. Grant programs and educational pathways reinforce the long-term sustainability of the U.S. energetics sector.

Milestones

01

TNT Facility Contract

Nitradyn’s JV partners have been awarded a $435 million U.S. Army contract to construct and operate the first domestic TNT production facility since the 1980s. The facility will be rapidly built at the company’s Kentucky site using state‑of‑the‑art automation, digitized manufacturing systems, and a novel waste‑neutralization process. The project secures long-term, U.S.-based TNT production capacity critical to national security.

02

IMX-104 Production Facility

Awarded a $581 million U.S. Department of War contract to design, construct, and commission a new domestic IMX‑104 production facility. Once complete, the facility will produce approximately 8 million pounds of IMX‑104 annually, restoring essential energetics capacity and supporting U.S. defense readiness. The plant will be constructed adjacent to the Army’s new TNT facility in Kentucky, enabling tightly integrated domestic production of foundational explosive materials.

03

Advanced Explosives Campus

Together, the IMX‑104 and TNT facilities form the core of Nitradyn’s growing Advanced Explosives Campus—an initiative aimed at building the most modern, diverse, and advanced explosives manufacturing hub in the Western world. These projects significantly expand domestic energetics capacity, strengthen the U.S. industrial base, and accelerate replenishment timelines for essential munitions supporting U.S. warfighters and allied partners. The campus also integrates workforce development partnerships with universities and technical programs to train the next generation of energetics professionals.
